Ολλανδία: Η χώρα της τουλίπας
A very good morning to you all! A sunny day like this reminds us that the spring has come.
In the Netherlands, you cannot imagine spring without the tulips.
Everyone knows that it is the land of the tulips. Some of you may have even visited it in order to see the colourful tulip fields.
Did you know that the tulip has been associated with the Netherlands since 1593? The tulip has been around for centuries. What's more, when its cultivation first began, only a few wealthy aristocrats had the privilege of having this beautiful flower in their possession. Fortunately for us, things have become much simpler these days. Two thirds of the annual production is exported to about a hundred countries, including Greece. However, I have a suggestion to make.
Should you decide to visit and experience this first hand, I recommend the Keukenhof Park in the north of the Netherlands.
It is a very beautiful place, well worth a visit if you happen to find yourself in the Netherlands at this time. What's more, the central event at this time of year is the Tulip Festival, which began on 24 March and will be open to the public until 15 May. For more information, visit the website:
